Site Information
Many people have asked about the name, “Milk Carton Designs.” To be brief, when I first started using CSS for a site, I labelled the classes after the parts of a milk carton. When I decided to make this site, the experience stuck out in my mind, and Milk Carton Designs was born.
The site is currently labelled at Version 5 (aka “Venidici”). Venidici gets its name from its version number, version 5, which can be shortened to v5, which, can be changed to vV. This reminded me of the Latin phrase “Veni, vidi, vici,” so Venidici is just a mashup of that phrase.
This site is built using the almighty XHTML, CSS, and PHP languages, as well as having a database-driven backend. The PHP blogging script and admin control of the site is, of course, Wordpress.
And for you incredibly nagging and curious folk, this site was built using and produced by many programs, including:
- Programmer’s Notepad (for Windows) *
- FileZilla (for Windows) *
- Transmit (for Mac)
- TextEdit (for Mac)
- TextMate (for Mac)
- Adobe Photoshop 7 (for Windows) and Elements 3.0 (for Mac)
- Windows 98SE, Windows XP Home, Macintosh OS X v10.4 (”Tiger”)
Most of these are open-source goodiness and I highly recommend any of them. Anyways, for clarity, I’ve added a star (*) beside all of the open-source programs and have provided links to most of the programs’ websites.
